IRENE THEODORIDES
Founder/Language teacher

Hello!

I am Irene, hailing from two diverse cultures, French and Greek.

Upon completing my studies, I spent a fruitful two years in New York, USA, where I taught French to children. Following that, I embarked on an exciting journey in Milan, Italy, for over a decade, planning the advertising campaigns for one of the most prestigious luxury fashion brands in the world. During this period, I seized every opportunity to travel and explore more than 35 countries!

I now live in Sydney, Australia, with my husband and our two young daughters. For several years, I have been teaching languages to individuals of different age groups. The experience has been incredibly fulfilling. It is my way of giving back and offering others the same opportunities that languages have granted me. Languages have opened doors and created meaningful connections in my life, and I'm excited to share that with others.

Teaching and learning are not just rewarding but also bring immense joy. The prospect of witnessing others thrive and grow fills my heart with cheer!

I also have a passion for creating vibrant and interactive games, as shown in the picture above! :)

Let's connect and embark on this journey together!

English and Spanish. I am also learning Italian and French.

Why do you love teaching languages?

It is very rewarding seeing how kids are fast learners and empathetic to their multicultural peers. It connects me with my own culture and it brings back childhood memories. I, personally, love learning new languages and exchanging experiences with students. Raising a multilingual child nowadays is challenging, so I take it as an opportunity to strengthen the cultural connections.

Why are learning languages important?

Learning a new language is your lifelong passport to explore the world and new cultures. You can connect with people from anywhere and everywhere! It's a great social skill in addition to continuing stimulation of your brain, improving cognition, attention and neuroplasticity (ability of our brain to form and reorganise connections - rewire).

What is your best advice for learning a new language?

It's like baby steps: slow and small steps every day.

  • Always look, listen and repeat it out loud. It's ok to be shy, but try saying it anyway. You may be surprised finding connections and similarities with your own language.

  • Start with songs. We tend to memorise it easier.

  • Choose one word every day to teach someone else (in your family or friends)!

  • And most importantly, have fun!
